ABOUT
Jake Smith
PERSONAL
I was born and raised here in Springville. My dad, Gregg (Coach) Smith, taught and coached at Springville High School for almost 30 years. I graduated from SHS in 1999 and then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico. I have been married for 15 years to Sara, and we are the parents of 4 kids.
I love to learn and read, especially about history. I enjoy leather working, backpacking, adventure motorcycle riding, and anything in the great outdoors. I attend a couple of primitive skills gatherings each year, where I teach primitive medicine and run the medical tent for any injuries onsite. I have had the opportunity to volunteer at a lot of really wonderful places, including Mapleton Fire Department, a Utah search and rescue team, and as the President of the Springville chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers.
PROFESSIONAL
After studying emergency management at Utah Valley University, I became one of the owners of a company that provided treatment for troubled teens and a wilderness therapy program for 12 years. Since 2014 I have worked at Haupt Electrical. A local business based here in the Springville/Mapleton area. I am currently the CXO (Chief Experience Officer) and manage responsibilities related to human resources, individualized coaching on job sites and in the office, leadership development, and all safety audits for the company. I am most proud to have helped build a company culture focused on self-improvement, mental and emotional health, and the overall well-being of each employee.
